The Ministry of Interior of the Government of National Unity has discussed lifting the ban on Libyan World Heritage Sites.

This came during a meeting held on Sunday at the Tourism Police and Antiquities Protection Authority HQ, which included the head of the Authority, Al-Senussi Saleh, his deputy, Ahmed Al-Riahi, and department directors.

The meeting agreed to prepare for a scientific symposium to help lift the ban on the five heritage sites, which the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) decided in mid-July 2014 to put on the List of World Heritage in Danger.

The five sites are: Archaeological Site of Cyrene, Archaeological Site of Leptis Magna, Archaeological Site of Sabratha, Rock-Art Sites of Tadrart Acacus and the Old Town of Ghadames.
