The Ministry of Labour and Rehabilitation has launched the “Labour Housing” initiative with the aim of regulating the presence of foreign workers in the country, following inspection campaigns that revealed a significant increase in the number of unregistered workers, who often live near citizens’ residential areas.
The Ministry said in a statement that inspection campaigns showed the presence of large numbers of foreign workers without official entrance or medical examinations, which constitutes a security and social threat.
The Ministry affirmed its efforts to regulate the labour market and improve the work environment by providing designated housing for foreign workers who entered the country through officially, while ensuring compliance with security and safety conditions.
