A spokesman for Misrata International Airport, Suliman Al-Juhaimi, has stated that flights will be suspended at the airport for two weeks, as of next Saturday until May 27.

Al-Juhaimi explained in a press statement that the halt was due to maintenance of the runway.

He further stated that the airlines did not inform them of their alternative plans when the airport halts operations, though all flights are expected to be diverted to Tripoli's Mitiga International Airport until maintenance is completed.

“We are seeking to finish maintenance before the set date in order for the airport to resume operations again to facilitate travel of the public from Misrata,” Al-Juhaimi added.
