The Authority for the Search and Identification of Missing Persons has begun collecting DNA samples from 30 bodies discovered earlier on the shores of the city of Misrata.

According to a statement posted on its official Facebook page, the aim is to extract samples from the remains and match them with the authority’s existing database of missing persons.

The authority also reported that its teams have completed the necessary legal procedures for the identified bodies. So far, 17 bodies have been buried in the Abu Qurayn cemetery in Misrata.

Once the identification process is complete, the final matching report will be submitted to the Attorney General Office.
