The member of the House of Representatives (HoR) Mohammed Al-Raeid formed an opposition parliamentary bloc “MPs against Extension of Mandate” with the aim of supporting elections and unity, saying he expects the bloc to include 100 MPs.

Al-Raeid told reporters that eight years of mandate for the same Speaker of HoR Aqila Saleh is more than enough, adding that the Speaker is running the parliament in the wrong way by working in disregard of the bylaws to achieve the interest of Saleh and his entourage as well as that of the General Command of Khalifa Haftar, explaining that MPs want elections as soon as possible so the transitional period can end.

“It's a delusional position to say that the Governor of National Unity was the reason why elections didn't go through on time because the HoR hindered the work of the government and didn't approve its budget. But now, with the force of the people and assistance of international community, Saleh's project will fail and the unity government will stay in power until it hands power over to an elected authority". He explained.
