The Director of the National Center for Disease Control (NCDC), Haider Al-Sayeh, has announced the completion of the national survey on glaucoma in the southern regions, Ghat, Ubari, Bint Bayah, Al-Barakat, and Al-Kufra.

Al-Sayeh added in a post on his Facebook page that 1,816 participants were examined in this survey, explaining that 202 cases of glaucoma were diagnosed, 11.18%, which is a serious indication that this disease is widespread in the country.

32 medical interventions were carried out in cooperation with the National Committee for Combating Blindness, he said, pointing out that glaucoma is the second cause of blindness in Libya.
