The Central Bank of Libya (CBL) announced that it had sold more than 75 million US dollars to Libyan families at the official exchange rates (LYD1.43). In a statement with a table of figures showing the transactions made at commercial banks in Libya, the CBL said the 75 million dollars were sold to families as part of the program it had launched earlier this year allowing every family's breadwinner to buy $400 for each member of their family.

Protesters calling for the overthrow of Misrata Municipality shut down the HQ of Muslim Brotherhood’s Justice and Construction Party on Friday. The protesters also called for freezing all political parties until the adoption of the country’s constitution. Earlier, the protesters closed Misrata Municipality with concrete blocks, demanding overthrow of the municipal members.

The World Health Organization, in cooperation with UNICEF, is due to launch an expanded vaccination campaign in southern Libya. The campaign, expected to start at the end of April, aims to immunize all residents of the south in light of the spread of illegal immigration and the possibility of transmission of several diseases in Libya.

The Chairman of Libyan Council of Reconciliation Taher Al-Badawi said he has contacted Presidential Council member Ahmed Hamza and Defense Minister-designate Al-Mihdi Al-Barghati in a bid to reach cease-fire to the ongoing tension in Sabha. Al-Badawi added he will continue to exert more efforts to end the military escalation and reach a compromise to the conflict.

The Fuel and Gas Crisis Committee said on Friday that a brigade from Nalut town in western Libya has forced a group of Tunisian fuel smugglers in Wazzin town to flee toward the Tunisian territory. The Committee added that the Nalut brigade stormed the houses of the smugglers in the border town with Tunisia and seized fuel tanks and warehouses of smuggled goods. Meanwhile, tension in the Tunisian towns near the Libyan border has increased amid acute shortages of fuel supplies following the Committee’s crackdown on smugglers.

Head of UN-installed Presidency Council Fayaz Sirraj held talks in Tripoli on Wednesday with Russian Ambassador to Libya Ivan Molotkov on the current security situations and the political stalemate in Libya.
