Libya’s Audit Bureau revealed Thursday that some fraud businessmen had gotten 80 million dollars from the Central Bank of Libya by the official rates (112 million Libyan dinars) to import foods and goods last Ramadan, but they smuggled the money overseas and brought back to sell it for Libyans at the black market by (480 million Libyan dinars.)

The Secretary General of the World Customs Organization, Kunio Mikuriya, to arrive in Libya on Sunday in a formal visit that will last for days. The media office of the Libyan Customs Department said Mikuriya’s visit to Tripoli will be divided into many activities, meetings and visits.

 Martin Kobler, the Head of the UNSMIL, said a high ranking meeting will take place under the auspices of the United Nations on December 13 in a bid to gather support for forming the Presidential Guard that is tasked to secure the Presidential Council of the UN-proposed government, adding that this security body will never be an alternative to a united Libyan army.

GECOL said Saturday that it is going to cut down the number of load shedding hours after activating three gas turbine units in Al-Khums, Al-Zawiya and Tripoli. It said that Al-Khmus new gas turbine was activated with 130 megawatts, Al-Zawiya with 200 megawatts and Tripoli 100 megawatts.

A nationwide polio vaccination campaign was launched Saturday morning and will go on till next Thursday. Children from one day old to six year old will be targeted by the campaign. For the first time, the phosphorous pen will be used to mark the pinkies of the kids as a sign of completion of vaccination.

The UK has granted 10 million dollars to the Libyan Stability Fund as per an agreement to boost education, health, water supplies in Sirte and Sabha as well as rebuilding Sirte.

Tripoli Archeology Authority is preparing to make an electronic map for all of the archaeological sites at the Old Town in the capital in coordination with the Historical Cities Department in addition to the historical survey and documentation of sites using GBS as well as exportation of data to Google Earth.

Sawabit Cultural Festival was kicked off on Saturday. The festival is going to raise awareness about the cultural norms and traditions of the Tripoli Old Town by holding different cultural and traditional activities.
