A fistfight escalating into guns held on guards’ heads at the headquarters of the UN-proposed government’s Presidential Council (PC) in Tripoli was reported by local media outlets on Sunday afternoon.

Gharyan Hospital said eight suffocation cases arrived on Saturday due to using coal for keeping warm amid the current wave of freezing weather and the outage of power that exceeded 10 hours a day. It added that it also received 210 children patients on Saturday as well suffering from Bronchitis including seven serious cases with acute Bronchitis due to very low temperatures, saying the hospital cannot accommodate such big numbers.

The head of the media office of the GECOL in southern Libya confirmed that a deliberate sabotage act led to a damage in the power cables near Em Al-Jadawel power plant between Sabha and Al-Sahtea, adding that this damage increased the number of load shedding in the south enormously.

Al-Hilal soccer club contracted the Libyan coach Jamal Abu Nawara to be the manager of the team in the coming Libyan League season and the CAF Confederation Cup. Abu Nawara arrived on Saturday in Benghazi to take up his post.

The media office of the University of Omar Al-Mukhtar in Al-Bayda declared Saturday a day off due to bad weather conditions, adding that all of the university’s colleges are included whether in Al-Bayda, Derna or Al-Gubba.

The Chairman of the National Oil Corporation, Mustafa Sanallah, laid the founding stone for building an institute of oil studies in Jalu city on a ten-hectare piece of land. Sanallah said that the NOC will attach the project of building the institute to its projects to make sure it is accomplished fast.

The UN said it had installed solar power panels for the first time in Abu Salim Hospital in Tripoli so that an alternative source of power is guaranteed in the ICUs amid the current outage of electricity. The UN added that this method will be applied to three other hospitals in Tripoli – Omar Ali Askar Hospital, Tripoli Medical Center and Gurdoba Renal Hospital.

150 displaced families returned to Sirte on Saturday in Al-Thalteen and Al-Gabiba areas after spending more than a year outside their houses, according to local sources, which also said another number of families will arrive in 700 Buildings Neighborhood, Al-Zaafaran area, and Al-Saba neighborhood in a couple of days.

The gas and fuel crisis committee at Brega Company said it had distributed diesel fuel to all gas stations in Libya, especially in Tripoli. It said it had allocated 2.500.000 liters to make sure the fuel is available amid the current outage of power, pointing out that it will be monitoring the gas station to foil any smuggling or business attempts so that the fuel can go to the citizens.

The Department for Administrative Centers Development discussed with the Turkish Ambassador to Libya the possibility of having the Turkish companies back in Libya to resume working on the projects they were contracted for. The meeting discussed the obstacles that would face the companies if decided to return and the possibility of negotiating for the compensation lawsuits filed by some Turkish companies.

Derna Municipality said fuel tanker trucks will start arriving in the city on Sunday after they have been banned from entering Derna for three months, adding that it had negotiated with the drivers so that they could take Kersa road in eastern Derna instead of Martuba road in western the city, saying it would pay the drivers for the transport of fuel.
