A car bomb went off in Jamal Abdel Naser street in Benghazi Wednesday night leaving 6 wounded – four civilians and two military personnel – the explosion happened at the time a convoy of Al-Zawiya Martyrs brigade was passing, sources from the city said.

One person was killed and two were injured in clashes in Al-Zawiya city Wednesday night. Sources said armed forces clashed nearby the Teachers’ College in the city center using heavy and medium arms, but did not say what was the reason behind the clashes.

Al-Itihad basketball team beat Al-Wehda 62-24 in the final match of western region’s qualifiers for a winner from Tripoli to compete for the final of Libya’s Basketball Cup. Al-Itihad will play Al-Naser on January 31 at Tripoli basketball court for this season’s title.

Hay Al-Andalus municipality said Wednesday that it had started installing solar panels of the solar power system at the Qurtoba Dialysis Center as part of the UN Development Programme (UNDP) that aims at setting up solar power systems in several Libyan hospitals as an alternative to the ailing electric power.

Al-Zawiya power plant’s manager, Abdelmajid Al-Gadi, said the plant is still suffering from the consequences of the long closure of the gas pipeline despite reopening it recently; saying the power generation has decreased and will only be restored gradually. He added that when the fourth power unit works soon, the power output will go back to normal.

Libya Telecom and Technology (LTT) in the east said it had finished linking an international cable (10 GB) with Orange Company via a fiber cable from Egypt, pointing that this step would cover the network demands of the entire eastern region.

Sirte mayor, Mukhtar Al-Maadani, called on the Presidential Council of the UN-proposed government to provide the necessary services and needs for the city and to fix the damages that were done to it during the war on IS, asking the PC to reimburse the owners of the damaged houses. He also said that the municipality has prepared a full outline for Sirte reconstruction.

The Chairman of the National Oil Corporation, Mustafa Sanallah, expected that Libya’s oil production would reach 1.250.000 barrels per day by the end of 2017, adding that Libya’s oil sector needs investments worth 19 billion dollars for the five coming years so that the oil output could hit 2.100.000 bpd.
