11 Libyan navy officers and engineers as well as 8 maintenence and repair personnel were sent to Italy to receive a theoretical course for a month on the 106 Libyan boat, the chief of the coast security department, Tariq Shanbor said Thursday. He added that after the course, the Libyan trainees will be given a training program for another month to get to know how to drive the under-repair Libyan boat in Benzart port, Tunisia. "The expenses of them trainings are covered by Italy and the EU as part of the deal between Libya and Italy regarding stemming illegal immigration.

Human Rights Solidarity (HRS) has urged for ending the ongoing violations and abuse against women and for the immediate release of hundreds of women, whom it said are being tortured under arbitrary imprisonment in several Libyan prisons. In a statement celebrating the International Women's Day, the HRS confirmed Wednesday that the report of the UN Human Rights Organization said there are women locked in Mitiga in Tripoli, Garnada in eastern Al-Bayda, Al-Kuwaifiya in Benghazi, and Al-Jawiya and Tamina in Misrata.

Senior commander of Benghazi Defense Brigades (BDB) Mahmoud Al-Fitouri has demanded Egypt to play a positive role to achieve stability in Libya and to stand at equal distance from all Libyan political rivals. In a press statement, Al-Fitouri hailed the international stances in general and the Italian one in particular about the oil crescent incidents.

The Finance Ministry has given the go-ahead for Central Bank of Libya to pay salaries of state employees for the months of January and February 2017. The ministry said the salary vouchers were sent to CBL according to the national ID number. The payment was delayed after the Audit Bureau halted the procedure after discovering corruption in the Budget Department of the ministry. The Audit Bureau suspended the director of the department from work and charged him with money wasting after he referred state employees’ salaries to the CBL without national ID verification.

Gunmen loyal to Dignity Operation have abducted the operation manager of Buraq Air near Umm al Rizam town, some 48 km south of Derna, and took him to unknown location, Sources from Derna reported. In Bayda city, Dignity Operation gunmen abducted two students from Omer Mukhtar University. Their whereabouts are still unknown. Dignity Operation has launched crackdown on opponents following the advance of Benghazi Defence Brigades eastward.

The Man-Made River Authority MMRA has called state authorities to shoulder their responsibilities and protect Libyan people’s resources following sabotage attacks on water pipelines. The MMRA warned about the continuing attacks on water stations and pipelines, which could endanger Libyan people’s water resources. On March 05, unknown gunmen exploded water station 368 in Hasawna, Jafara, which cut water supply to some of the country’s western towns.

The Libyan Organisation Against Violence and Hate Speech has called all Libyan media outlets and social media pages in and outside the country to renounce violence and hate speech. In a statement on Wednesday, the organization said inciting violence and hate speech have resulted in negative impacts on Libyans.
