The defense minister-designate of the UN-proposed government’s Presidential Council, Mihdi Al-Barghathi, paid a surprise inspective visit to Zueitina oil terminal, which is controlled by the so-called Petroleum Guard, led by Ibrahim Jodran. Meanwhile, Khalifa Haftar’s militias had attacked the terminal aiming at laying hands on the key terminal last week and they are still positioned nearby the oil terminal and are threatening to attack it.

Colonel Muftah Hamza confirmed that there is no military equipment in Tobruk, saying all of it was moved to Al-Marij after the Organization and Administration Authority had moved there. The Officers College, General Staff HQs, ammunition depots, and weapons were all moved to Al-Marij, leaving Tobruk’s security units completely vulnerable.

Denmark said Monday it provided two ships to help the international efforts that aim at transferring the chemical weapons out of Libya to be destroyed somewhere else. Danish Foreign Minister, Kristian Jensen, said chemicals must not be left to fall at the hands of the extremist groups in Libya, referring to radical groups such as IS.

Italy’s Foreign Minister, Paolo Gentiloni, said his country is ready for the second phase of the support for Libya, saying it includes training military and security forces. Speaking with an Italian TV channel, Gentiloni indicated that Italy is ready to help form the Presidential Guard then the military police, and after that the security units of the UN-proposed government. He added that this step will be presented to the Italian Parliament.
