The Presidential Council (PC) has strongly condemned the airstrikes on Derna that left more than a dozen civilians dead and others wounded.

A Libyan national named Mustaf Al-Imam, who is believed to be linked to the 2012 attack on the US consulate in Benghazi was captured by US forces, US officials revealed on Monday. They added that Donald Trump and in coordination with “the recognized” Libyan authorities approved the operations. The White House issued a statement saying that Al-Imam will have a fair trial in the US.

The commander of the central military zone Mohammed Al-Haddad said Monday in Sirte that military units will be active in two weeks, adding in a security meeting with the mayor of Sirte Mukhtar Al-Amdani, that the security checkpoints will be also activated in the city. According to the Facebook page of the Sirte municipality, the mayor said he was ready to support security efforts done by the city’s directorate.

Traveler Al-Bosiri Abdelsalm continued his peace advocacy for the seventh trip that kicked off Saturday from Sabha city toward Waddan in Al0Jufra for a distance of 250 km under the slogan “We forgive and reconcile for the sake of the country.” Al-Bosiri said he would travel 55 km to reach Waddan on next Thursday with a torch in hand to open Ti Ti desert festival in the city. He added that the festival organizers funded this new trip.

The Italian ambassador to Libya, Giuseppe Perrone, has said that the UNSMIL’s action plan is a chance for striking accord among all conflicting parties, telling the Anadolu Agency on Monday that the parties have an honest inclination to achieve reconciliation to end the suffering of the people. He added that his country and other countries are pushing Libyan parties to progress toward national reconciliation.

Alnabaa TV Channel reported the spokesman of the General Electricity Company of Libya (GECOL) Mohammed Al-Dakouri as saying that an official in eastern Libya was shot at by unknown gunmen on Thursday, but he managed to escape. Al-Dakouri added that this murder attempt against Osama Saleh, who heads the electric energy security office in Al-Batnan area, came after he seized aluminum and brass cables after being stolen from the GECOL and were en route to be smuggled, sending as well the criminals to justice.

Ubari steam gas station’s third unit successfully operated and was being readied to join the electricity general grid after the technicians had managed to test-operate it, said the General Electricity Company of Libya (GECOL) media office. GECOL announced earlier that the fourth unit joined the network with 160 megawatts, adding that the whole plant will join in full in December 2017.

Deputy Education Minister Adel Jumua urged the projects 
office at the education facilities authority to speed up service works in education institutions in Sabratha according to the ministry’s standards. This came after a tour around the schools by the deputy minister and other education officials.

Libya’s Fatwa House has condemned the horrendous crime and the blatant attack on Derna, denouncing the silence of the authorities and officials toward the killing of children and women in Egyptian airstrikes on the basis of fighting IS who were defeated by Derna people. The Fatwa House also found it strange that there are still some people who are rallying behind the “gang” which claims to be a national army after all the Benghazi and Dena massacres they committed.
