Mizdah international short films festival ended on Monday. The festival displayed 21 films from nine Arab countries.

The Head of the Presidential Council of the UN-proposed government, Fayez Al-Sirraj, said Libya’s military command must always work under the umbrella of the political leadership as the rest of the world does, adding that the state political regime can never be tied to certain persons or individualized because such a thing is foreign to the democratic regimes and those that look up to democracy.

Local Governance Minister of the UN-proposed government endorsed the three-month payment order for the workers of Public Services Company after they organized a sit-in on Monday at the vicinity of the Tripoli-based ministry. The workers threatened yesterday to go on a long-lasting and open-ended strike if their delayed salaries were not paid before the coming of Eid Al-Adha vacation and the new school year.

The Italian Navy said it had saved over 1000 illegal immigrants and recovered the bodies of 7 drowned ones off the Libyan coast, adding that the 1000 persons were all on board dinghies including a number of children. It also indicated that it rescued 160 immigrants who were boarding a dinghy designed for 100 at most.

Africa Gate news website reported a high-ranking source as saying that Fayez Al-Sirraj, the Head of the Presidential Council of the UN-proposed government, and his boycotting deputy Ali Al-Gotrani, badmouthed each other as the latter accused the government of being a trusteeship government, which made Al-Sirraj leave the meeting and toss the paper off the table. The source added, according to the news website, that before they could engage in a real fight, the Presidential security guards interfered and ended the brawl.

In its report about journalists facing violence and assaults, covering the second quarter of 2016, the Libyan Center for Freed of Press (LCFP) said violence has grown sharply on so many levels as the center registered 21 assaults in 8 cities with the capital Tripoli topping the list as regards those assaults, adding that the most violent assaults were registered in Sirte and Benghazi.
