The US special envoy to Libya, Richard Norland, has stated that a fully successful political transition in Libya will depend on the engagement of all parts of Libyan society, according to his X platform page on Monday.
“Chargé d'Affaires Jeremy Berndt and I were very pleased to have the opportunity to speak with a distinguished network of women activists, academics, legal scholars, and a female member of the security sector led by Asia al-Shwehdi who are committed to increasing women's political participation across the country”, Norland said.
“Amid the ongoing UN-led 16days of activism to combat violence against women and girls, we commend the network for their efforts to address this serious issue, which is one of the root causes of the political marginalization of women”, he added.
