The novel (The Return: Fathers and Sons and the Land in Between) by Libyan novelist and poet Hisham Matar was ranked among the 100 best books of the 21st century published by the New York Times.
The novel ranked 89th on the list chosen from 503 novelists, writers, poets, critics and book lovers, according to the American newspaper.
It is noteworthy that the novel The Return, published in 2016, revolves around Hisham Matar’s journey in search of his father, who was kidnapped in 1990 in Cairo and then transferred to a prison in Libya.
