The Acting UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Nada Al-Nashit, has demanded that affected countries by illegal immigration provide better protection for migrants in light of what they face while trying to reach Europe.
Following a UN report on humanitarian violations in the migration file in Libya, the UN official said that the states concerned should provide safe and regular paths to return migrants to their countries.
She also urged the Libyan authorities to immediately end all violations and abuses of migrants' rights, holding other concerned countries responsible as they should provide broader protection for migrants.
