The Akakus Oil Company announced, on Friday, the restoration of an oil well that has been suspended in production since 1996 in the Sharara field in the southwest of the country, increasing the company's proven crude reserves.

The company said in a statement on its official Facebook page that the operation was carried out by a consortium of Apetco and Petecs, providing full support from the Sharara field, and succeeded in restoring the well and resuming production.

It also explained that this process came after conducting a complete study, which is to find out the reason behind the damage to the layers and to choose the appropriate acid and solvents that are compatible with the layers without causing any collateral damage.
