The Libyan Oil and Gas Minister Mohammed Oun said the country's oil production exceeded 1.2 million barrels per day (bpd), telling reporters that the halt of gas production in Mellitah fields was due to operational fault and took 8 hours to repair and return to normal.

Oun said the problem had been solved and gas supplies returned to normal. Such faults happen all across the world.

The electricity grid lost 1100 megawatts due to the halt of gas supplies to gas stations as a result of a technical fault in one of the Mellitah Company fields. On Saturday,  production in most of the suspended units was restored and the network returned to its normal operational status.
