rescue ship

A rescue vessel operated by SOS Méditerranée has saved 126 migrants in two separate operations off the coasts of Libya and Malta over the weekend.

According to AFP, the first rescue recovered 59 people — including a woman and ten minors — from a crowded fibreglass boat. A second group of 67 was found aboard a wooden vessel in Malta's search and rescue zone after departing Libyan waters.

None of the migrants were wearing life jackets or had protective gear. All were safely transported to secure locations.
