Pakistan's Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has arrested two Pakistani nationals accused in case in which a boat sinking off the coast of Libya in 2023.
According to Pakistan Today newspaper, the arrests were made following an operation conducted by the Anti-Money Laundering Department in Faisalabad.
"The accused blackmailed people into migrating to Europe via Libya by demanding huge sums of money, reaching millions of rupees, through false promises of jobs."the newspaper reported.
It reported that upon their arrival in Libya, the migrants were subjected to detention, torture, and inhumane treatment in secret locations.
