Foreign Minister of the parallel government, Hafez Kaddour, has asked Arab League Secretary-General, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, not to enable the Government of National Unity assume the presidency of the 158th Session of the Council of the Arab League at ministerial level.

The parallel government said in a statement published by its media office that"By this measure, the Arab League violates its acclaimed role of full solidarity with the State of Libya in its crisis, and assisting it in preserving its territorial integrity and recognizing the Libyan government as the sole legitimate representative of the Libyan people."

The parallel government warned against what it described as the repercussions of the Arab League's insistence on recognizing the Government of National Unity, saying that "Such measure threatens stability and unity of Libya, and represents bias towards an expired political party that lacks legitimacy and legality," according to the statement.
