The Passports, Nationality, and Foreigners Affairs Authority has reported a significant increase in the number of lost and damaged passports.
The authority addressed concerns raised on social media regarding recent regulations that require a one-year waiting period before issuing a replacement for a lost or damaged passport.
On its Facebook page, the authority emphasized the importance of safeguarding passports and advised citizens to avoid using them for purposes other than their intended use.
Additionally, it highlighted that urgent and humanitarian cases would be considered exceptions to the one-year waiting rule, indicating that local branches would refer such cases to the central authority for review and decision-making.
