The Presidential Council (PC), acting as the Supreme Commander of the Libyan Army, convened with the General Staff to address the fallout from the closure of the Sharara oil field in the southwest of the country.

"The Supreme Commander of the Libyan Army met with the General Staff in Tripoli to discuss recent military and security developments in the western region and the consequences of the Sharara oil field closure, which has caused widespread security instability," the PC stated on Sunday.

The Sharara oil field, operated by Spain's Repsol, was shut down on Saturday night by an armed group loyal to Saddam Haftar in response to an arrest warrant issued by Spain for his alleged involvement in oil smuggling.
