Pope Francis called for an end to the bloodshed in Libya, urging all conflict parties to opt for dialogue and to eschew violence.

In his message on the occasion of Easter, the pope said that the defenceless people in Libya are dying of violence and that many families were forced to flee their homes in fear for their lives, saying "We must avoid armed conflicts and support political dialogue to achieve stability," as he put it.
