Tunisian President Kais Saied discussed the outcomes of his participation in the Mediterranean Migration Forum held in Tripoli with Tunisian Prime Minister Ahmed Hachani on Thursday at the Carthage Palace.
President Saied, in a statement from the Tunisian Presidency, reaffirmed his government's steadfast stance on irregular migration. He underscored Tunisia's pride in its African heritage and its commitment to supporting migrants, often vulnerable to human trafficking networks.
Saied also emphasized Tunisia's rejection of being viewed as a transit or destination point for these migrants, stressing that the solution to irregular migration must be collective, involving dismantling the criminal networks behind this phenomenon.
He highlighted that these migrants are victims of an unjust global economic system, calling for international cooperation to address the root causes of migration and support the affected individuals.
