The Public Prosecution has reported that the High National Elections Commission requested the Public Prosecution to clarify the criminal status of 2,389 candidates in order to verify the issuance of a criminal judgment preventing them from running in the municipal elections.
The Public Prosecution confirmed that its data base revealed criminal records for 120 candidates for committing felonies and misdemeanors.
The Public Prosecution explained that it referred the files to the Commission to take the necessary measures against the candidates.
