The Public Prosecutor Office on Wednesday announced that three former heads of the Libyan mission in Ukraine are being held in pretrial detention on charges of damaging public money by embezzling foreign exchange worth hundreds of thousands.

The office explained that the step is part of measures to pursue corruptors who laid their hands on the funds allocated for the work of Libya's mission to the Republic of Ukraine.

"The Chief Prosecutor of the Public Prosecution Office discussed the facts attributed to the heads of mission who held the position from 2012 to 2019; and its circumstances," the department explained.

According to the statement, the investigations with the three officials and some of their assistants revealed significant infringements under the description of the allocations for providing medical services, study grants, and others.
