The Libyan Public Prosecution has ordered the detention of Ramadan Abu Janah, Minister of Health in the Government of National Unity (GNU), along with the Director of the Pharmacy Department, the Head of the General Tender Committee, the official in charge of the Central Procurement Committee at the Ministry of Health, and a representative of a pharmaceutical import company.

According to the prosecution, the decision relates to the procurement procedures for an oncology drug imported from a pharmaceutical manufacturer based in Iraq.

The investigation confirmed that the officials violated the regulatory guidelines governing the purchase of this type of medication. 

They were also found to have disregarded the technical, financial, and legal requirements essential to proper contract management.
