The Public Prosecutor has ordered the detention of a former director of Ali Omar Askar Hospital and administrative and public relations officials on charges of financial corruption.
According to a statement by the Public Prosecutor's Office on Facebook, the prosecution received a report alleging the fabrication of official documents that falsely indicated the receipt of medical equipment and supplies by a healthcare institution.
These documents were used to disburse funds in violation of public spending regulations. The statement also highlighted the discrepancy between the cost of contracted catering services and the quality of services provided to patients.
The Chief Prosecutor's investigation confirmed that the hospital's financial managers deliberately caused financial harm amounting to two million dinars. They have been detained pending further investigation.
