Russian President, Vladimir Putin, has underlined what he described as Russia's interest in developing friendly relations with Arab countries, in order to effectively confront modern threats and challenges.

He stressed his country's support for peaceful solutions to the crises in Libya, Sudan, Yemen and Syria.

In a cable sent to the Arab summit in Jeddah, Putin said that Russia attached great importance to developing friendly relations and constructive partnership and cooperation with Northern African and the Middle Eastern countries, within the framework of dialogue with the League of Arab States.

"We are determined to continue to support collective efforts for the peaceful resolution of acute regional issues, including crises in Libya, Sudan, Yemen and Syria, with unwavering respect for state sovereignty and the existing provisions of international law." Putin added in his cable.
