The Red Cross warned on Saturday that landmines and unexploded ordnance continue to pose a threat in Libya and threaten the safety of the population.

In a statement on the occasion of the International Mine Awareness Day, the Red Cross called for adherence to the landmine signals, including improvised explosive bombs or military mines.

It urged people not to approach landmines and to inform the relevant authorities immediately, stressing that landmines and remnants of war are still threatening millions of people around the world.
