A group of youth in Zintan city, west of Libya, blocked roads with makeshift barricades and burning tires on Saturday.

The protesters expressed their rage at the poor living conditions and the lack of services in the city.

Activists shared online images of these riots, while black smoke could be seen blowing in the air.

On Friday, the Minister of Local Government/ Minister of Interior, Badr El-Din Toumi, visited the mountain town of Zintan and met with members of its municipal council.

Toumi held a press conference in which he warned against assaulting police members and said such acts damage the state's prestige.
