Russian Deputy Foreign Minister and Special Presidential Representative for the Middle East and Africa, Mikhail Bogdanov, and Turkey’s Ambassador to Russia, Mehmet Samsar, confirmed their coordination efforts to assist in achieving a ceasefire in Libya.

The Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement that Bogdanov and Samsar exchanged various views on the present situation in Libya, expressing the pressing necessity to deescalate the present threat of violence.

Both parties concurred that the only way to achieve a settlement was through political and diplomatic channels, in accordance with the outputs of the Berlin Conference.
