Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov has stated that Russia's ambassador to Libya, Aydar Aghanin, will head to the capital, Tripoli, where the Russian diplomatic mission intends to fully resume work.

Bogdanov, who also holds the position of Special Representative of the Russian President for Middle East and African Affairs, added that the Russian side is counting on ensuring the security of its diplomatic mission in Libya, and considers this matter an important priority, according to Russia Today.

Earlier, Bogdanov said that Russia plans to reopen its embassy in Tripoli in the near future, and plans to open a consulate general in Benghazi, Libya's second largest city.
