Rwanda, the African Union Commission and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees have announced the extension of an agreement to receive African refugees stranded in Libya.
"The agreement reaffirms the commitment of all parties to provide protection and seek permanent solutions for refugees and asylum seekers evacuated from Libya." The statement said.
It explained that more than 2,300 refugees and asylum seekers from Eritrea, Sudan, South Sudan, Somalia, Ethiopia, Nigeria, Chad, Cameroon, Guinea, Ivory Coast and Mali have been evacuated since the signing of the memorandum of understanding.
