On Wednesday, Sabha Airport welcomed the first civilian flight arriving from Mitiga International Airport in Tripoli, having suffered a six-year gap in air travel at the airport.

The Sabha Municipality said on its official Facebook page that the flight that arrived at the airport was a plane run by Afriqiyah Airways, the first aircraft since 2014.

The Ministry of Transportation issued instructions last March to reopen Sabha Airport to air traffic and to take all necessary measures and arrangements to achieve its opening successfully and safely.
