The head of the National Oil Corporation (NOC), Mustafa Sanalla, has accused the undersecretary of the Audit Bureau and its current president, Alaa Al-Masallati, of being part of "a systematic campaign" to obstruct the work of the oil sector, saying that he would not allow the oil industry to be dragged in political disputes.

In response to a previous letter from the Audit Bureau, Sanalla addressed the Prime Minister in a letter saying that Al-Masallati is fully aware of the temporary arrangements for the reservation of oil revenues taken since 2020 and the investment of taxes and royalties imposed on foreign companies.

"The Audit Bureau has no right to demand the suspension of spatial development projects in the regions, especially gas projects and infrastructure development in the sector," Sanalla says, warning that such measures will cost the public treasury a loss of millions of dollars.

The NOC's head criticized Al-Masallati for not interfering to prevent sums of money paid to Ibrahim Al-Jadhran during the closure period, which cost the state around $100 billion in sales opportunities, saying that the bureau has deviated from its role and objectives.
