The Chairman of the Presidential Council, Fayez Sarraj, held discussions with the head of the UN Mission to Libya, Ghassan Salame, regarding the latest political developments in Libya and developments in the situation at the Oil Crescent region.

The two sides agreed during the meeting held on Thursday at the headquarters of the Council in Tripoli that recent developments and unilateral decisions do not serve the agreed political path to hold presidential and parliamentary elections on a sound constitutional basis.

Both parties agreed that the National Oil Corporation based in Tripoli is the only legitimate entity responsible for the management of oil under the exclusive supervision of the Presidential Council's Government, calling for the retreat from this current trend in order to preserve this vital economic income for all Libyans.
