The Scottish Government has announced the allocation of new funding to support projects aimed at providing clean water, food and shelter to those affected by Storm Daniel in eastern Libya, as well as residents of the Gaza Strip.

The Minister of International Development, Christina McKelvie, confirmed the provision of 250,000 pounds sterling, through the Humanitarian Emergency Fund, to support relief efforts in Libya, and to help those affected by the floods that struck several cities last September, according to the Scottish government website.

Recent statistics indicate that more than 4,000 people died as a result of the massive floods and torrents that hit the eastern region of Libya, with nearly 10,000 people missing.
