The United Nations Security Council will vote next Monday to choose a new head of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL).

According to Al-Arabiya TV private sources, there is an international overall trend to appoint the Senegalese Abdoulaye Bathily as head of the UNSMIL.

Bathily is a former Senegalese minister and defender of black African rights against racism, and has been working since 2014 with the United Nations and was head of the United Nations Mission in Central Africa, and also chaired the Strategic Review Committee for the work of the UNSMIL.
