The Attorney General Office has confirmed that investigations are underway with the "Rapid Support Company for Oil Services" on the backdrop of the oil tank Slouk that went floating out of control in the sea in mid-December.

In a statement, the Attorney General said the floating tank, which was carrying oil, put the marine transport at risk and exposed the Libyan shoreline to contamination.

The Public Prosecution took several measures to prevent a pollution disaster and directed the relevant authorities to initiate pollution removal procedures.

A senior official at the oil services company has been placed in custody pending investigation, according to the same source.
