The National Oil Corporation (NOC) announced Thursday that Sirte Oil and Gas has achieved a major breakthrough by completing the horizontal well “C353H” in the Zelten oil field.
The well features a 900-foot horizontal section drilled using advanced directional drilling technology. Initial testing of the well revealed a flow rate exceeding 2,300 barrels per day of water-free crude, and production commenced in record time.
Sirte Oil’s daily crude output has now surpassed 103,000 barrels, a level not seen since 2007, according to the NOC.
The milestone forms part of Libya’s 2024 production growth strategy, aimed at increasing national oil and gas output.
