The 444th Brigade of the Libyan army says it arrested three outlaws involved in smuggling activities after an encounter in the middle of the desert.

In a statement Wednesday, the brigade said that a desert force under its command incircled the gang between the dunes in the middle of the desert and arrested them after an exchange of fire.

It confirmed the recovery of two vehicles, some weapons, and ammunition, indicating that the operation comes as part of its efforts to curb the smuggling and human trafficking phenomenon.
