The Sudanese military has announced that it has eliminated Libyan mercenaries serving as snipers with the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) and injured several others in ongoing clashes.
In a statement released on Saturday, the army confirmed the destruction of five RSF combat vehicles and detailed preemptive operations targeting RSF groups in North Darfur State.
On Friday, special forces and the General Intelligence Service conducted security sweeps in urban neighbourhoods to safeguard civilian properties and prevent mercenary infiltration, the statement added.
The Sudanese government has accused the RSF of recruiting Libyan mercenaries to bolster their ranks, allegedly with support from rogue military commander Khalifa
Haftar and the UAE.
