A sudden storm hit a number of cities in western Libya on Tuesday.

Accompanied by massive chunks of ice, the storm caused the uprooting of many palm trees, resulting in their falling on public roads, bringing about damage to a number of private properties.

The Traffic Control Office of the Tripoli Security Directorate appealed to citizens to exercise caution while driving on the highway, wishing all travellers a safe journey.

The National Center of Meteorology expected further rains to hit the country in the next three days, warning of strong north-westerly winds, gusting up to 25 knots.
