The United Nations Development Program (UNDP) confirmed that it has helped the Libyan authorities return more than 500,000 people displaced by conflict to their homes.

“As the world grappled with historic levels of internal displacement reached 71.1 million people in 2022, development solutions led by governments are key to protect IDPs and build resilience, UNDP said in a post on its Facebook page on Sunday.

In the city of Tawergha, after years of displacement, almost 45% of the people returned and found their homes and infrastructure badly damaged. UNDP helped the local council provide services, create jobs, and rebuild the community for returning residents it added.
