The Supreme Judicial Council on Monday agreed to the memorandum submitted by the Judicial Inspection Department calling for the financial independence of the judicial authority.

In a statement, the Council said it had approved this memorandum "to complete and consolidate the foundations for full judicial independence from the executive authority."

During the meeting, the Supreme Judicial Council also decided to return the Higher Judicial Institute to its authority.

"The Council took the necessary measures to ensure these decisions are put into effect and had informed all legislative and executive authorities of its new decision, the statement read.
