The National Cardiac Centre in Tajoura on Monday opened several new wards, including one for serving Pediatric Cardiac Surgery patients.

The centre held an opening ceremony attended by Deputy Prime Minister/ Minister of Health Ramadan Abu Janah, the head of the Audit Bureau, the mayor of Tajoura Municipality, and the director of the National Cardiac Centre.

The Health Ministry noted that it has also completed maintenance work at the Cardiac Operations Department for adults and installed two desalination plants to improve the centre's water system.

For many years, the centre had suffered from severe water salinity that further eroded the infrastructure and caused the analysis devices to rust.
