Italy renewed on Saturday its commitment to Libya to set up a special partnership to confront illegal immigration.

The Italian Embassy in Tripoli said that the commitment is a result of the meeting of Rome, which was set up to provide new options for the development of Libyan municipalities affected by illegal migration.

The Italian capital of Rome is hosting talks, which included the Italian Interior Ministry and representatives of municipalities in southern Libya as part of efforts to combat illegal immigration.
